Holy Week approaches on the Christian calendar, and with it comes the waving of palms, the washing of feet, penance, hot cross buns, the Cadbury bunny and (holy moly!) the 47-year-old rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar.

The original two-act play Letter Writing, written and directed by Marisa Valent for SPARE Productions, opened Thursday night (Aug. 18) and runs through Saturday (Aug. 20). Performed once before in Syracuse, Letter Writing is having its Binghamton-area premiere at the Cider Mill Playhouse, and its opening night audience gave it a standing ovation. (more…)

Reviewed by George Basler Some of my favorite old-time movies growing up were the Judy Garland /Mickey Rooney movie musicals. They all had pretty much the same plot that ended with Mickey and Judy gathering a bunch of willing young people and intoning “let’s put on a show,” or words to that effect.
