By Barb Van Atta Former Metropolitan Opera and Tri-Cities Opera tenor Richard Leech today (July 28) was named Director of Resident Artist Programs at Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT) in Detroit. Leech, who grew up in Broome County, will head MOT's newly created young artist program, Michigan Opera Theatre Studio. MOT President and CEO Wayne S. Tri-Cities Opera has been chosen to host a singers’ workshop Tuesday (Nov. 13) sponsored by OPERA America. Selected singers from TCO’s resident artists program and Binghamton University’s Masters in Music program will have the opportunity to sing a “feedback” audition, and the public is invited to listen. The workshop will feature discussion on career strategies for singers, as well as a 20-minute opportunity to perform and receive advice from industry professionals.
