Binghamton Theater Organ Society Inc.

The Binghamton Theater Organ Society, Inc is a NY State Charity and a USA IRS Non-Profit corporation whose Mission is to promote, maintain and present Publically Owned Theatre Organs in the Southern Tier area surrounding Greater Binghamton and Broome County.

We present programs of 1890’s through 1930 Silent Films with live Theatre Organ Accompaniment and Musical Shows using the organ as an Orchestra featuring local musicians.

We use the Broome County Performing Arts Center’s 1525 seat FORUM Theatre’s (236 Washington St, Downtown Binghamton 13901) 1922 Robert-Morton Theatrical Organ, found in storage in a chicken coop in Michigan in 1972. It was purchased by the Binghamton Savings Bank (under President Robert Nash) and  given to the County along with the Forum theatre in 1976.

The restoration work was led by local IBM Engineer George Melnyk and many volunteers and one professional organ technician.  The all pipe instrument was worked on for five and 1/2 years to bring it back to life. Our All Volunteer Board of Directors and staff present highly professional and very enjoyable programs for almost all ages.

Call our Box Office at 607 773 1495 (noon to 8 PM daily) for more information and to obtain reserved seat tickets.
