The EPAC Repertory Company presents, Mel Brooks’ “The Producers” on November 9th through the 13th, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night at 8pm, and Sunday afternoon at 3pm. This production is directed by John Penird, with musical direction by Jeffery Wahl, and choreography by Andrew Shaul. This amazing cast of local talent includes Matt Gaska as Max Bialystock, Jamie Cook as Leo Bloom, Jana Kucera as Ula, Vito Longo as Franz Leibkin, Greg Williams as Roger DiBris, and Ian Cook as Carmen Ghia. Featuring a live seven piece orchestra conducted by Jeffery Wahl.

The show starts in Shubert Alley, the usherettes enter, (“It’s Opening Night”), tuxedo-clad Max Bialystock appears. He used to be the toast of Broadway and now he’s a disaster. He vows to be on the top again (“The King of Old Broadway”). We transition to Max’s office where he is startled awake by an accountant named Leo Bloom, who has come to handle ‘the books’. Max then makes a simple observation: under the right circumstances, one could make more money with a flop than with a hit. Suddenly, Leo is listening. Max explains: the first step – find the worst play ever written, the second step – find the worst director in town, the third step – raise two million dollars, the fourth step – hire the worst actors in town, the fifth step – open on Broadway and the final step – run away to Rio with the money! Leo is unconvinced, but Max tries to sell him the idea (“We Can Do It”). Leo imagines what it would be like to have his dream of producing a Broadway show come true (“I Wanna Be a Producer”). He quits his job and returns to Max’s office, exclaiming that he wants everything he’s ever seen in the movies, and more! Go to http://www.mtishows.com/the-producers for the full show synopsis.
