Broome County Arts Council is accepting candidate nominations from the public for 2014 Heart of the Arts and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

The awards, nominated by the community and selected by votes of more than 100 BCAC members and the Board of Directors, honor individuals who have made significant contributions to and impact on the arts in Broome County. By Barb Van Atta Dr. Michael Bogdasarian, chairman of the Tri-Cities Opera board of directors, announced today (Feb. 25) that the company's general director, Reed W. Smith, has resigned to pursue other interests. Smith, according to a TCO press release, has been involved with the opera company for more than 33 years, starting as a resident artist and then moving into management. He has served as chief executive of the company for 13 years.
