About: J. Barrett Wolf

J. Barrett Wolf lives in Binghamton, NY, where he has hosted the poetry open mike at RiverRead Books for the past five. In 2012 he received a United Cultural Fund Grant from the Broome County Arts Council to produce “Here & There: Poets from near and far” poetry reading series, as well as a First Place Award from the Performance Poetry Association of Long Island for his poem “Antschel”. In 2010, he was commissioned by the Broome Country Library to compose the commemorative poem their tenth anniversary and was a feature poet at the Limestone Dust Poetry Festival. Prior to living in the Southern Tier, Wolf was was chosen one of eight poets on the Connecticut Touring Artists Roster from 1992 to 1994. He won first prize at the Stamford Festival of the arts for his poem 'Old North Field' in 1993. His work has been chosen for ten anthologies including 'Passing', from Poetworks Press, 'Rubber Side Down: The Biker Poet Anthology' from Archer Press, and Long Island Sounds 2009 and 2010, published by the North Sea Poetry Scene Press. His work has appeared the Portland Review of the Arts, Black Bear Review, The Underwood Review and online in Ragazine.cc, Poetry Super Highway: 11th annual Holocaust Remembrance Day, Motorgedichten.punt.nl (Dutch), and Not Just Air. His first volume of poetry, “Stark Raving Calm,” was published in June of 2011 by Boone's Dock Press.
