Friedberg, whose studio is located in Harpersfield, NY, has exhibited his work in New York City as well as many other venues in the United States and internationally. He has completed large commissions in the Hartsdale International Airport in Atlanta and at the Prudential Southern Regional Headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, among others.

The Roxbury Arts Group is pleased to be able to present a selection of the artist’s newest work in the Walt Meade Gallery. These pieces have been inspired by the extraordinary visual beauty often found in natural and man-made disasters. The ethereal nature of Friedberg’s materials belies the power of the images that he creates. “This is exciting work that delights the eye and provokes the mind,” says Annie Schwed, Gallery Coordinator at the Roxbury Arts Group.

Richard Friedberg was born in 1943, and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Friedberg attended Antioch College and Yale University. In 1968, he moved to New York City to make sculpture and teach Fine Arts at Hunter College. His first one-man show occurred the following year at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery and his work has been shown in galleries throughout the United States and Europe. In addition to Hunter College, the artist has taught at the California Institute of the Arts and at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Now living and working in upstate New York, Friedberg brings some his latest work to the Roxbury Arts Group.
