The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes and the Chemung County Historical Society invite you to the opening reception of the exhibit, At the Jewish Table: Food, Family and Heritage in Elmira on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 7 to 9 pm at the Chemung Valley History Museum, 415 East Water St, Elmira, NY.
At the Jewish Table is an exhibit inspired by the Elmira Jewish Community’s most well-known public event, the Jewish Food Festival. On the tenth anniversary of the Jewish Food Festival, this exhibit invites you to explore the migration and evolution of Elmira’s Jewish community. Witness its contributions to the city’s commerce, and savor the traditions of the table which have bound Elmira’s Jews together across cultures, congregations, families, and neighborhoods.
Visit the museum’s website to find details on upcoming public programs associated with the exhibit: www.chemungvalleymuseum.org. Contact The ARTS Council’s folk arts coordinator and CCHS guest curator Dr. Maria Kennedy for more information about the exhibit and its programs at folkARTS@eARTS.org.
This exhibit is a project of The Folk Arts Program at The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes in partnership with The Chemung County Historical Society with support from Congregation Kol Ami and the Jewish Center and Federation of the Twin Tiers. It is funded by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.
